Gunman Cat Stevens (Terence Hill) is ambushed in a Western town while its citizens are being entertained by a traveling circus, headed by an old coot named Mami (Lionel Stander). Severely bleeding and near death, Stevens hides out in one of the circus wagons. His presence only brings bloodshed and tragedy to the performers and eventually he and Thomas, a strapping man with a score to settle, set out to seek revenge against the cut-throat killers and their bosses. Stevens and Thomas are joined in their quest by two men. The first is Arch Hutch (Bud Spencer), a character out of Stevens past. Hutch is a bear of a man who is quick to over-react.
